ESET security review
ESET’s suite offers the best value-for-money. Its malware detection rate comes close to perfection and the suite comes with a variety of other features within a tiny footprint. The premium version includes parental controls, a secure browser, and a password manager as well as the Android version comes with an anti-theft feature that will help you find your phone that has disappeared. The features to protect your network include a firewall, as well as the option to scan home devices for vulnerabilities, are also beneficial.
SysInspector is a standout tool. It takes a snapshot and highlights important Registry entries and running processes. It’s a bit intimidating for novices however if you’re used to task managers that are more extensive, such as those in the Sysinternals process Explorer, you’ll be at in the comfort of your own home.
Scheduling scans on demand is a excellent feature. This is a nice alternative to real-time security, and it’s fast and simple to implement. It’s just a shame that ESET does not integrate this with other scheduling tasks, and its UI makes it somewhat difficult to locate than some of its competitors.
Other notable features include a robust form filler for online banking, a great spam filter that scores the best scores in our tests, and a highly powerful password manager that’s simple to use. The password manager is available in the premium version, and requires an ESET account, but it’s as efficient as the other standalone solutions I’ve tried.
